Rainforest Alliance
When you buy Rainforest Alliance Certified Paulig coffee, you help farmers adapt to climate change, conserve forests and provide better working and living conditions for them and their families. This contributes to saving coffee for future generations.
Fair Trade
The international criteria for Fairtrade have been complied with in the production of the raw material, and the production is on a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable foundation. A minimum price is paid to the farmer for Fairtrade products that covers the necessary costs of production that is sustainable for the environment and people. In addition to the minimum price, a Fairtrade addition is paid. It is meant for projects that develop the entire community. The entire system has been created to improve the status of smallholder farmers and their workers in developing countries in the international trade.
Organic or organically farmed
Organic coffee is made of organically farmed coffee beans. The principle is to produce products that doesn’t have production methods that are harmful to nature or the health and well-being of humans, plants or animals. For instance, the amount of allowed additives and auxiliary substances in organic farming has been limited to the bare necessities. In Finland, the production and marketing of organic products is supervised by the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health Valvira, the municipalities and Customs.
The Organic certificate is always combined with the Fairtrade certificate in Paulig’s coffees, which means that in addition to the environmental responsibility, social responsibility is also taken into consideration. Our selection includes, for example, Juhla Mokka Organic and Paulig Mundo.
